Introduction
Capybara, previously known as UpForIt, is a location-based social platform that connects adults for spontaneous activities and hangouts. This policy explains how information is collected, used, shared, stored, and controlled when you use the app and related services.
Information you provide
Account and profile information may include your phone number, optional email address, name, age, self-identified gender, occupation status, optional educational institution, profile photos, interests, verification selfie with identification, hangout posts, messages, and join requests.
Information collected automatically
The service may process precise and approximate location, cached location history, device and operating-system details, unique device identifiers, mobile-network information, IP address, feature usage, interaction timing, hangout participation, crash reports, performance information, and error logs.
Authentication and analytics
If you use Google or Apple sign-in, the service receives the basic profile and authentication information provided by that service. Firebase Analytics may process usage and performance statistics.
How information is used
Information supports account authentication, profile display, nearby discovery, matching, identity verification, messages, notifications, safety, fraud prevention, content moderation, service improvement, legal compliance, and enforcement of service terms.
What other users can see
Other users may see your public profile information, including name, age, photos, interests, verification status, approximate location, and information about your hangout participation.
Service providers
Firebase services support authentication, data storage, file storage, notifications, analytics, and performance. Supabase may store service data in PostgreSQL. Google Maps processes location information to provide map features. Google and Apple process information when you use their sign-in services.
Provider policies: Firebase privacy, Google privacy, and Apple privacy.
Legal disclosures and business changes
Information may be disclosed when required by law, legal process, government request, or to protect rights and safety. It may transfer as part of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale. Other sharing occurs only with your consent.
Storage, security, and retention
Service data is stored using Firebase, Google Cloud, Supabase, and limited local device storage. Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS and TLS, and access is restricted. Active-account information is retained while the account remains active. After account deletion, personal information is deleted or anonymized within 30 days unless a legal or safety reason requires longer retention. Verification material may be retained longer for security and fraud prevention.
Your choices and rights
You can view and update profile information, manage location and notification permissions, choose authentication methods, request a copy of your data, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to know, access, correct, erase, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of personal information. Capybara does not sell personal information.
Adults only
Capybara is intended only for people aged 18 and over. If you believe information from a person under 18 has been collected, contact support so it can be removed.
International processing
Information may be processed in the United States, European Union, and other regions where service providers operate. Privacy laws in those regions may differ from those in your country.
Policy changes
Material changes may be communicated in the app, by email when available, and by updating the date on this page. Review this policy periodically for current practices.
